SACRED SPHEROID (DISSOLUTION YANTRA), 2010-2011.
Sacred Spheroid (Dissolution Yantra) was a durational work on the dualistic nature of human perception and the hopeful unification of inner, oppositional states of consciousness.
Themes of spiritual metamorphosis were explored through meditations on infinite, dynamic light (energy) perpetually gestating within infinite, static darkness (void). The work's process was guided by
intensive study and meditation on tantric Buddhist philosophy and practice, leading to its ideological embodiment for the purpose of physio-spiritual transformation.
Spanning a duration of two-weeks, the performative aspects of the work evolved through oscillations of mixed and multimedia, including several ongoing installations and sculptural processes, various
coinciding video and sound pieces and continuous transfigurations of embodiment, via costumed yogic dance. These rituals produced revelatory visions of light and void which prompted the creation of
sculptural relics and expanded personal codes and contexts of my symbolic language.
By entering altered, oppositional states of consciousness via meditation-in-action, I sought to conjure expressions and experiences of energetic interconnectivity in an effort to unify perceptual dissonance.
In this way, I discovered an infinite, luminous core of being.
